Evaluate the Task Before Changing a Role
By STEADYWRK Team
A decision about an AI feature should begin with the task it is meant to support. Write down the result required, the consequences of an incorrect answer and the work a person still needs to review.
Test the whole task
A generated paragraph may be only one part of the request. Include checking sources, correcting mistakes and preparing the result for its intended reader. Keep the time spent on those steps in the assessment.
Compare like with like
Use the same task instructions and acceptance criteria for each approach. Record the conditions under which the comparison was made. If the AI output needed a substantial rewrite, that correction belongs in the result.
Separate evidence from a staffing decision
A successful trial does not determine the future of an occupation or establish what another company should do. Before changing responsibilities, identify the review skills, training and decision rights the revised task requires.
STEADYWRK's evidence guide distinguishes interface documentation from evaluation results. Use that distinction when reading any AI announcement, including an announcement from us.
