Walk Through Your Storefront Before You Send Someone to Buy
By STEADYWRK Team

Choose one product link and follow it as a visitor would. Keep a short record of what the page shows, what you select and where the next action takes you. This is a preparation exercise, not a certification of a store or a substitute for testing an authorized purchase.
Begin with the link someone will receive
Open the exact link in a fresh browser session on your phone. Check that it reaches the intended product and that a cookie banner, promotion or menu does not cover the first useful action. Try the page with the keyboard as well if you are reviewing a desktop experience.
Write down the URL and observation time. If the link redirects, keep the final URL too. A screenshot is useful context, but it cannot establish whether a button works; activate the relevant control and record the result.
Follow one selected option
Choose a specific size, color or other option if the product offers variants. Record its label, displayed price and currency. Change the option and inspect what changes. Keep unavailable or unknown information explicit instead of filling it in from memory.
For a separate markup review, use the product-variant exercise. Compare the selected product with its own description and structured data. A different option is a different observation.
Read the terms needed for a decision
Find the delivery information, returns information and a relevant way to contact the store. Record what is visible before checkout and what appears only later. If a charge or delivery estimate depends on an address, note that dependency rather than reporting the first product price as a complete order total.
This exercise does not determine legal compliance. It asks whether a visitor can find and understand the information the store presents.
Stop at a clearly named boundary
Inspect the cart and the transition to checkout using an authorized test setup where one is available. Do not place a live order merely to complete this checklist. Opening a checkout page is a handoff; it does not establish that a payment, confirmation message, refund or delivery works.
If payment testing is outside your scope, write payment not tested. A skipped step should stay visible in the result. Use a separate approved test plan for payment and order processing.
Keep a compact review record
| Step | What to record | What remains separate |
|---|---|---|
| Product link | Initial and final URL | Search indexing or ranking |
| Selected option | Label, price, currency and visible availability | Inventory accuracy outside this observation |
| Decision information | Delivery, returns and contact destinations | Legal review |
| Cart | Selected item and displayed totals | Successful payment |
| Checkout handoff | Destination and visible next action | Completed order or fulfilment |
The checklist below does not save your progress. Copy it to your own notes if you want a reusable starting point. Keep passwords, card details and private customer information out of the review record.
After making a change, repeat the affected step from the original link. A fix is ready to mark complete when the same action produces the intended result, not merely when an edit has been saved.
