Testing Whether an Automation Helps a Task

Choose a task with a clear result and define what successful completion means. Record the current steps before changing them so the comparison has a stated starting point.

Count the work around the output

Include preparation, review and correction in the trial. If a generated answer needs a rewrite, that work belongs in the assessment. If an exception requires a separate action, record it rather than leaving it outside the demonstration.

Use repeatable examples

Keep the task instructions and acceptance criteria the same. Use synthetic inputs that include an ordinary case, missing information and a result that should be refused. Explain any change in the test conditions.

Decide what to try next

Compare the observed results with the requirement you wrote down. A useful next step might be a revised instruction, a smaller task or deciding not to use the feature for that case. State the decision and the evidence behind it.
