Why We Charge By the Job
Legacy field service management software charges between $200 and $400 per technician per month. ServiceTitan sits at the high end. FieldEdge, ServiceFusion, and the mid-market peers cluster in the $150 to $250 range. Plus implementation fees. Plus annual contracts. Plus per-seat licenses for dispatchers, admins, and accounting.
STEADYWRK charges $3 to $5 per dispatch. No per-technician fee. No per-seat fee. No setup. No multi-year minimum.
The pricing is not a marketing decision. It is the product.
What Per-Tech-Per-Month Is Actually Charging For
The legacy FSM pricing model assumes that the customer's cost driver is the size of their technician roster. A 30-tech HVAC company pays for 30 seats. A 5-tech plumbing shop pays for 5. The software is the same product. The price scales with the customer's headcount.
This pricing model worked for one reason: the legacy software was a workflow tool for human dispatchers. The dispatcher needed a screen. Each technician needed a mobile app. Per-seat pricing matched the operational reality where every person in the workflow consumed software.
The model breaks the moment AI removes the human dispatcher. If the AI is doing the dispatching, the customer is not paying for the dispatcher's screen. They are paying for the dispatch decision itself. The unit of value is the dispatch, not the seat.
What Per-Dispatch Pricing Aligns
When the customer pays per dispatch, several things click into place that per-seat pricing actively breaks:
